New Development Precede The Guild Wars 2 Release Date

Guild Wars 2 release date was eagerly being awaited by online gaming fans. ArenaNet, the company that develops the online game, was keen to show off the latest version of the game at a premier game show in Korea late last year. The fantasy themed computer game is developed from the story of the world of Tyria that was in existence three thousand years ago.

The game unfolds in Tyria, a land that belonged to serpents before the invasion of humans. With this invasion brought wars for resources and dominance. Eventually, the fighting ceased, although each country had to adopt their own way of defending themselves against attack.

There are three continents painted in the storyline, namely Ascalon, Elona and Cantha. Each continent has a differing theme fro the other. In Ascalon, the story revolves around adventures in a Western land, through the Crystal Desert and finally winds up in an attempt to save the land from evil forces.

The battle of good against evil rages on in this Western continent and the player will at some point be enlisted by the King and prince of the land to help in the war. The North-African continent of Elona was once marked by prosperity. As the game progresses, the player encounters an evil god and must help to rescue Elona from wicked forces. Each story makes part of the series and flows through to make an interesting plot line.

The use of race creates a human character from either of the five continents, or charr, a breed of creatures who are persistent in their attacks. Another option is to create a player by profession. A profession is determined by the type of armour that a character will wear. The scholars wear light armour, adventurers medium and the soldiers have the privilege of donning heavy armour.

Key features in the new version include enhanced weapon skills. The new skills allow for weapons potential to be unlocked following an achievement. Each character is endowed with a set of different skills, none of which are necessarily better than the other.

Despite the enhancements, creating a character and navigating through the system is considered a fairly easy and straightforward task. A player can opt for a solo role and fight against other players or be a team player. While the single player gets quite some powerful equipment, the team role has the advantage of working together and offering collective help to members of the same side.

An injured player must therefore be careful about how ho or she expends his energy to preserve his or her health. The compass also has undergone revamping to increase its functions, notably the zoom and panning function.

Other featured improvements are the regular email updates that keep players abreast of the development of the plot line. Hints are also more dominant on the screen as is the newly added hero tool bar. It will be interesting to see the finished product, even as gamers wait for the official Guild Wars 2 release date.
