There’s no doubt about it, computer viruses are a scourge on the internet community. These virus programs are written by people who just like to hack their way into other people’s computers and destroy their data. It’s hard to understand the mindset of someone who wreaks havoc with another person and never even knows who the victims are. Whereas a so-called worm works its way through your system, eating up your resources, computer viruses are written to destroy your data. So how safe can you be against the many viruses out there, looking to attack? Here are a few pointers to help you safekeep your data.

Computer viruses may enter your system from a variety of ports. They commonly enter through your browser, your email, a download or even through .ftp access, running in the background where you will never know what’s happening.

The hackers are always looking for a hole in your operating system’s security, which is why you are constantly being reminded to download the latest update, plugging newly discovered holes. When you receive notification that a new update is available, jump on it. Otherwise, you may be the next victim of a computer virus. Are you affected by viruses? if so try Laptop Repairs in Cape Town

It’s long been publicized that you should never open an attachment to an email from a source you don’t know. Some people mistakenly think that if the file attached is not an .exe format, they can come to no harm. This is a myth. An .exe file can be disguised, so that what appears to be an innocent text file on your email reader is in fact a cloaked .exe, ready to take over your system. If you’re not expecting that email with an attachment, delete it, empty your email trash bin and then empty your system recycle bin. Are you affected by viruses? if so try Laptop Repairs in Cape Town

One email attachment exception is the .zip file. Zip files are encrypted and must be extracted before you see the content files and they are still not open. In this case, you’re pretty safe.

How many times do you unthinkingly download files, simply because they’re free? You’ve got to be especially vigilant with downloads. If the file is in an .exe format, don’t take a chance. On the other hand, .pdf files are generally safe. These files require a reader, such as Adobe Acrobat. The reader, downloaded separately, does not allow any system commands to be executed, nor does it allow writing to or deleting of files. Nonetheless, with any download, always view the security certificate verified by an independent third party, such as Verisign. The security certificate shows that the file(s) have been inspected and are encrypted. The date must be current, not expired.

Computer viruses can be fatal to your PC. A firewall provides reasonable assurance of the security of your machine. Unfortunately, there’s always another hole to be found by the hacker. No precaution is ever failsafe, but if you are cautious, skeptical, and proactive with system updates, your chances of acquiring a computer virus are as low as they go. Are you affected by viruses? if so try Laptop Repairs in Cape Town

If tired of your slow computer and determined to adware and spyware, there are some critical points you need to know before you start out. Just follow these five things to block adware thoroughly and effectively.

An essential factor if you want to block adware is making sure that you stay away sites that provide porn and free games. The reason why this is critical is because 87-92% of all adware is found on these types of sites.

If you don’t avoid these types of sites, then you run the chance of shifty adware finding a way to your computer.

Another critical consideration to block adware is to avoid free software whenever possible. It’s critical that you download software from a reputable site; because a lot of free software is only “free” if you also agree to view related advertisements.

If you make sure that you are getting software from a site that tests for adware, then you’ll be OK. You don’t have to a computer geek in order to block adware. A lot of adware comes with really freaky names like PSW.Win32.LdPinch.abm and W32/Aplore@MM.

Many folks that I speak with say that they get intimated listening to others talk about computers and that you have to have a degree in order to block adware and other pests. All you need to do is have the right tools, and make sure that you keep them updated and use them frequently.

Many people complicate their efforts to block adware and spyware by wasting a lot of time in Yahoo or other search engines researching. This usually takes them on a wild goose chase that leads to a bunch of frustrations. Let the software tool available on the market take care of all the hard work for you.

There are true “nerds” out there researching the potential attacks out there. Don’t duplicate their efforts. Just install the right tool and let it take care of you. You can leverage computer experts even more by using a tool that will block adware for you on auto-pilot.

Make sure to invest all of your time to block adware and spyware with a software tool that has a real-time monitor. This is the most critical thing that you can do. Your life is too hectic to add something else onto your to-do list.

So if you really want to block adware, follow these tips and you will have years of hassle-free web browsing to come.

In 2004, online consumer spending was at a record $65.1 billion. More and more people are attracted to the ease of online shopping and are spending higher amounts. Unfortunately, the chances of becoming a victim of Internet fraud are also increasing. The Internet National Fraud Center Watch reported that the average loss to fraud victims for just the first six months of 2005 was $2,579. This is compared to the $895 average for all of 2004. Complaints relating to general merchandise purchases (goods never received or misrepresented) accounted for 30% of Internet fraud complaints, and auction purchases (goods never received or misrepresented) topped the list at 44%.

Website Security Rules of the Road
While many e-commerce Websites are reputable and have taken the necessary safety precautions to protect you, it never hurts to always proceed cautiously. If you are making an online purchase consider these easy steps:

Use only one credit card, preferably with a low credit limit, when making online purchases. Avoid using an ATM or debit card.
Be wary of unsolicited offers by sellers. The Internet National Fraud Information Center Watch reported that email, as a method of contact by Internet scammers was up 22% in 2004.While the offer may be legitimate, spammers like to use this tactic to side-step reputable sites that provide consumer protection for online purchases.

Use only reputable e-commerce websites that list a street address and telephone number in case you need to contact them directly.
Read the website s privacy policy. Some websites may reserve the right to sell/give your information to a third party. Check the document to see if they allow an opportunity to opt-out of receiving special offers from third-party vendors or for permission to share your personal information.

Check for a lock symbol in the status bar at the bottom of your Web browser window. Also, do not provide your personal information if the website address doesn t start with https (a sign that the site is using a secure server).

Choose only verified sellers. Check to see if the vendor is a verified member of a reputable third party such as the Better Business Bureau, VeriSign, or Guardian eCommerce. These third-party sites help to ensure online consumers will be protected when shopping or conducting e-commerce transactions.

Zlob Removal

Remove Zlob Trojan is not always easy. We have several guides on our site to help you out but unless you are computer savvy you will need to purchase software to help remove the Zlob threat from your computer or have a pro do it for you.

The Zlob Codec acts like a real video codec but it’s not. When you download and install the Zlob codec you are actually installing spyware onto your system. The Zlob Downloader is some really bad malware. If you made the mistake of installing the Zlob codec then you need to take immediate action to remove this Trojan.

Not removing Zlob right away results in several things. The first is someone can actually take over your computer. This rouge spyware threat also goes out downloads other malicious software onto your computer. Fake anti-spyware scanners and programs like Smitfraud and Virtumonde normally follow a person once they are infected.

If you are looking for a cheap way to remove this then you should consider having a pro to the repair online. This is nice because it’s about half the cost of traditional repair methods and many places offer a no fix no fee guarantee. If you go this route then consider my friends over at Computer Repair as they are one of the most recommend out there for repairing Zlob online and are great on the wallet.

What to Buy?

There are hundreds of Security program out there that you can use. The sad part is while many will prevent spyware in the first place most will not remove the Zlob threat. You need to get the best anti-spyware software on the market in order to remove this threat and protect yourself from it happening again. Spyware Doctor is the only program we use to remove this threat from peoples systems. To be honest you can not trust many reviews online as most people are just trying to sell you their product. So do your due diligence and read up on spyware doctor. After you do you will know for yourself that it is the leading anti-spyware product on the web.

There are free methods of removing this threat. We have covered some of them on our Spyware Removal website but it’s important to note that for the average computer user it is too hard to do and they risk loosing all their data. We suggest calling a pro if you continue to have issues. The most important thing is not to wait. If you do then your system will become more and more unstable and data loss is very likely.

Virus heat. What is is and how you got it.

The sad truth is many free anti-spyware and anti-virus software out there are actually spyware programs them selves. I am in know way saying they all are but that old sang rings true. “Nothing in life if free”. If you are one of those out there that love free software you should consider always reading reviews about the product from multiple sites before downloading it.

What to do if you are infected?

You really have two choices. First you can purchase Software to remove virusheat or have your computer repaired by a pro. computer repair online does a great job at fixing systems online. You can also have a tech come to your house for a little more or take it to a computer shop.

The most common reason for a Virus Heat infection is from a video codec. You go to a site via an e-mail or from a link in a search engine and the site tells you that you need to download a video codec to view the image or that latest funny video click. You should never download a codec from a site that you do not trust.

Another popular way people get infected is from not having proper protection in the first place. Most free virus and spyware programs are junk. In fact many paid programs out there don’t do much. Most of the spyware and virus products on clickbank for instance are pure junk. Check out our spyware removal software site for what we use to remove spyware from customer computers.

You know you have Virus heat if you have a security icon on your desktop that reads virus heat or if a program keeps popping up on you that is named Virus Heat or Sysprotect. The whole goal of this fake software is to get you to purchase it. Once you do the pop-ups and software don’t go away but the crooks who placed it there just a got a little richer.

If your wondering who would fall prey to such techniques then you may be shocked to realize that many people do. The fake security software does a great job at creating fear in people. The software pops up saying the spyware on their system is stealing their identity or that they are being tracked online and need to buy the software right away in order to remove the threat. While most people won’t fall into this trap enough do to make it profitable for the people who make this software.
