At Long Last, they have announced the answers of an self-sufficing review on the state of significant scale|corporate[/spin] Microsoft .NET application programs. java applet

CA, an self-sufficing IT management software company, marked in the review, directed by Evans Data Corp. (EDC)object oriented java , that significant scale|corporate[/spin] Microsoft .NET investment growth is outpacing SUN Java investment growth. The CA- sponsored review, which focused on enterprises with 1,000-plus employees and queried 350 programmers and directors involved in creating and/or managing business-critical Microsoft .NET applications programmes, also found that a deep market lives for integrated applications programme execution management (APM) solutions that help the increased use of both development architectures in the same organization.

“These review answers confirm that Microsoft .NET applications programmes are diffusing in fundamental enterprises and their acceptance and dependability is continuing to increase,” said Mike Allen, director of product management for CA Wily Technology, a division of CA. “This begs the question of how to effectively manage environments that use both Microsoft .NET and SUN Java. CA Wily advocates a comprehensive applications programme execution management solution that addresses both with a single solution and helps key Web practical applications to meet business, customer experience and execution goals.”

The review found that most enterprises have highly heterogeneous applications programme environments and that Microsoft .NET help teams are similar to SUN Java help teams in terms of size, structure, problem types and times to isolate problems. A vast majority of respondents said their Microsoft .NET and SUN Java groups are integrated within their help organizations, highlighting the industry requirement for a comprehensive approach to applications programme execution management. As with SUN Java, management responsibility is spread across departments (development, operations, quality assurance, etc.), and equally required in both environments.

Highlights of the review include:

- Nearly 60 % responded that their Microsoft .NET investment is growing, while 50 % said they are adding new Microsoft .NET personnel; – 57 % of respondents indicated that Microsoft .NET expenditures comprise more than a quarter of their overall business-critical applications programme investment; nearly 20 % of respondents put that figure between 75 and 100 %.

“An increasing number of enterprises are realizing the benefits of deploying practical applications built on both Microsoft .NET and SUN Java. However, with those benefits come the challenges of managing a heterogeneous environment coupled with the unique issues of both development architectures,” said Jasmine Noel, founder and partner, Ptak, Noel & Associates. “To help maximize ROI, IT organizations should use a single tool to manage the execution and availability of Microsoft .NET and SUN Java practical applications in the same environment.”

Additional findings on the state of large scale Microsoft .NET practical applications include the following data points on problem causes and slowdowns:programming with java

- 54 % of respondents said that development is the division responsible for Microsoft .NET help, compared to 69 % for SUN Java;

If you are looking for ways or tools that can help you manage your networks effectively, you can try using some network monitoring software. There are free Network Performance Monitoring Software available on the internet. Try downloading some of the programs and try them on your network, just to check which one will best work for you. Just make sure that you are getting them on safe sites. To be safe, try reading some of the review posts on these programs, by doing that you can download the ones that you think will be useful on your network. LAN, Bandwith, and server monitoring software are some of the example of this kind of software.

If you want to know more about the threats and dangers pose by spyware, I strongly suggest that you keep reading. There are some real risks that you need to know about, like how spyware can violate your online privacy, and even steal your personal details for use in crime. You can lose a lot of money if the wrong people get their hands on your credit card details!

Spyware is more of a problem than most people think. In 2005, 62% of all computers were infected with Spyware – by now, it is more. This means that you are quite likely to be already infected, even if you think that you are safe.

Spyware is software that is installed on your computer without your knowledge. It is designed to secretly monitor your actions, record what you do, and to copy the information that yo type or save on your computer. When you are connected to the Internet, it makes a secret connection to a server and sends this information back home to the designer. This person can now use this information for his own purposes – which are usually criminal.

The spyware also is often used to display advertising to you. It does this by first analysing your behaviour – what sites you visit, what links you click on, what you buy, your demographics, interests, etc. When it has a good idea of what you will buy, it will start displaying ads to you. Usually this advertising is quite blatant, in the form of flashing pop-ups that appear every minute or so. Sometimes it is more subtle, such as banner ads that appear on websites that do not normally have banner ads.

Whatever form this advertising takes, it is intrusive and can be very annoying, or even disturbing.

The bigger threat is in the form of personal information which can be stolen. It is very easy for a computer program to search through all the files of your computer looking for a certain pattern – such as a credit card number. When it finds this information, it can send it to the remote server. Add this to the address and other details it is able to extract, and the spyware designer will rapidly be able to gather enough information to steal money from you, or to open up a bank account in your name.

This account then will be used to commit fraud, and you will usually be left to blame as the person responsible. This can be extremely damaging to you, and difficult to prove.

We have looked at how spyware can pose a serious threat to you. We’ve seen how it is used to spy on you, bombard you with unwanted adverts and even to steal your money or identity. I’m sure you’ll agree – this is a serious threat, and one you would be happy to avoid. Unfortunately, there is a better than even chance that your computer is already infected.

What you need to do now is get software to detect spyware. Trying to perform a spyware adware scan yourself is nearly impossible, as the spyware is designed to avoid detection. Luckily, the anti-spyware programs are designed to do this automatically. If you are worried about price, there are even cheap spyware detector programs that you can use.

Everyone in the United States has heard of the leading antivirus vendors Symantec, Mcafee, Computer Associates, and Trend Micro. These companies have market-leading presence in the United States. Microsoft, as well, has plans become a key player in this market. Microsoft acquired intellectual property and technology from GeCad software in 2003, a company based in Bucharest, Romania. They also acquired Pelican Software, which had a behavior based security as well as Giant Company Software for spyware and Sybari Software, which manages virus, spam, and phishing filtering.

The Players in Antivirus Industry
A lot of discussion has centered on whether Microsoft with come to own a dominant position in the antivirus market by simply bundling its technologies with its operating systems at no charge. This is a similar technique applied in other markets such as word processing and Internet browsers.

Of course there are a number of antivirus vendors who also play in this market. There are many companies with great market presence in other countries that are beginning to become more widely known. These vendors include GriSoft out of the Czech Republic, Sophos in the united Kingdom, Panda Software out of Spain, Kaspersky in Russia, SoftWin in Romania, F-Secure in Finland, Norman in Norway, Arcabit in Poland, VirusBuster out of Hungary, and AhnLab in South Korea.

It is not clear where the industry is heading and everyone in this market faces a rapidly changing landscape. The amount of effort to find and provide fixes for viruses is staggering. Malicious programs are getting more complex and the number of them is increasing. Many companies may find themselves without the resources to match the efforts of those truly bent on creating havoc. Some virus companies are getting of hundreds of new samples a day! Moreover, the new viruses are getting “smarter” in that they propagate themselves quickly and they often hide themselves and are smart enough to move around in a system by renaming themselves in an effort to make it hard to remove them. More on Antivirus.

In the beginning, most everyone eagerly awaited each “upgrade” that windows provided, such as Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME and Windows XP. Waiting for this new version, Windows Vista, was fraught with anticipation as well. However, mixed Windows Vista reviews became the norm. Most printers would not work with Vista, games seemed slow to respond and it seemed like no matter what you tried, you kept getting the message that Vista would not work with your particular hardware or software.

Of course, Microsoft gave us the standard story about anything new is bound to have bugs or problems and they were working overtime to get them fixed. They were busy getting all of the windows downloads updated, offering computer help if they could. There were many compatibility, graphical and performance issues to be resolved. Microsoft now tells us that nearly 77,000 hardware products are supported, which is more than double the number supported at launch and that in 9 out of 10 cases when you plug in a device it should just work, with no installation disc required.

Additional improvements that Microsoft has touted about their latest star include supporting 97 of the top 100 consumer software programs, which include Adobe Photoshop, AppleiTunes, etc. And they claim that Windows Vista now has more than 2,700 applications certified to work with the system and more are being added every day.

So, even with all of the issues described, does Microsoft still feel that Vista is the better operating system? When asked, they said that Windows XP is a great operating system as was its predecessor, Windows ME but with more and more people investing in identity theft products, security is high on everyone’s agenda. Their goal is to always make each new version of Windows better and more secure than the last and feel that they have done just that with the Vista operating system. So what are some of the major highlights that they feel Vista has over XP?

There are definitely improvements in some areas. For example, parents will likely appreciate the more powerful parental controls, allowing them to feel secure in knowing they are able to make the internet a little bit safer for their children. Windows Vista also boasts a 60% less likelihood of being infected with spyware or malware over windows XP service pack 2. While keeping the phrase “work smarter not harder” in mind, they have created Windows Mobility Center, Sync Center and Windows Meeting Space, which were all designed to make your work easier. They have also kept entertainment in mind with the Windows Media Center where you can edit an HD video, watch and record TV and organize your photos with Windows Photo Gallery.

A great man once said that one day there would be a computer in every household and he was scorned and derided. Fact of the matter is today we all have more computers in our home than we even realise ourselves.

The positive aspect of this is if you are employed as a computer support support technician this day and age, I don’t think there would be any reason that you would be without a job, and the situation can only get better in reality

If I look at my own household I think things are starting to get out of hand because not only do we have the normal clutch of games machines, play station, wii, Nintendo game and DS (I keep resisting the urge to go to mad) but we have our own computer network with three Pc’s and a laptop all connected.

Computers make life go a little bit smoother and routine tasks a tad simpler and lets face it we all hanker after as much convenience as possible but what about the internet and security factor?

Identity theft is becoming an increasing problem and we are constantly hearing in the news about hard drives turning up on e-bay or second hand computers being sold full of data, but this is only one aspect of the problem.

I know, that’s not totally reassuring, but it should relieve you some when surfing the web for Christmas gifts. It’s doubtful that your personal information will be received by third parties. The cool thing about reputable web-stores is their security. The majority of them have very secure transaction pages.

Viruses can also be a threat to your security not only as they could potentially delete your data but also they can introduce keylogging software onto your computer as well.

Of course a little parental intervention goes a long way here, so it is well worth starting to instil good internet protocols into your kids as soon as they start to use the internet. Help them understand the potential dangers with this and viruses as well. If they think there beloved computer is at risk I’ll guarantee that they will take notice of what you say.

Viruses will never cease to exist as long as PCs are around. I continually hear my friends and family members whine about computer viruses, but they are still happy to send unknown e-mails back and forth to each other full of links to goodness knows where.

Start your child’s internet security and antivirus education as early as possible because if the parents won’t listen, you’ll have a tough time convincing a teenager.

Spyware is a very big problem for computer owners. If you have spyware on your computer, it’s bad news! What this malicious software does is spy on you, and use the information it gathers to send to a remote computer belonging to the spyware designers. On this remote computer, huge amount of personal data is collected, including passwords, email addresses, and even details like online banking log ons and credit card numbers. The amount of damage that can be caused to you by this software is enormous!

spyware detect and locate

When spyware is installed onto your computer, most of the time you will know nothing about it. Some of the more greedy spyware designers use the infection of your computer as an excuse to show you force you to buy things, but many other varieties of spyware are completely invisible.

However, there are signs that you can pick up on, such as changes to your Windows settings, new user accounts appearing, a lot of hard disk thrashing and a slow down of your computer. You may also notice that the Internet seems to be less responsive – this is as a result of the added network traffic caused by the spyware.

The best way to detect spyware is with special anti-spyware software.

spyware removing software

As soon as you have found some spyware, you need to delete it. While this can be done manually, the uninstall procedures are usually quite complicated, with lots of different steps needed. This is because the spyware is designed to resist deletion, which means that you need to outsmart the designers. What’s more, the procedure will be different for each and every type of infection – there are many tens of thousands of different strains of spyware out there!

This is why so many users prefer to use specialised anti-spyware software to remove the infections.

Spyware Bot

Spyware Stop is anti-spyware software that removes spyware from your computer, and keeps it safe from reinfection. It does this in 3 ways:

1 : It scans your computer and removes the threats that it finds there.

2 : It blocks new spyware from installing itself.

3 : It will alert you if any spyware starts running on your computer, and will then remove it.

This makes your computer completely safe!

There are two types of software that will be explained underneath:

1. Hard drive software is used for data safety purposes. This means that exact copies of hard drives is produced by disc image files which can be stored in mediums like CD, DVD, etc. This is useful to have if your computer suddenly gets a virus attack or a hardware failure. By having such hard drive backup software, you can get the peace of mind that this problem can be restored rapidly. It is also helpful when you want to restore only necessary and important files. It comes in handy even in cases where there is a mass system deployment which involves many identical computers.

The best thing about hard drive backup software is that it secures all your programs, data files, pictures and all the files that are very important to you. What’s nice about hard drive backup software is that it doesn’t interrupt or disturb any functioning of the computer; you can still go on with your work while the system does the backup job. It is always a good idea to have the right registry cleaner to get rid of unwanted viruses. How backup software works- it protects your data by archiving it at scheduled times and what’s nice about this is that you can adjust the timetable settings, especially with the new software backup packages.

Lots of different backup software is readily available on the market today, you just need to choose the one that suits your specific needs. You can also try hard drive backup software websites, but I suggest buying one is much safer. Either choose between software backup systems that are designed for small personal business computers or choose one that is designed for professional use. All these backup software can operate on more than one operating system.
The best advisable thing that you need to take into consideration when it comes to purchasing backup software is to rather invest in one that does bit-level verification. This way you can have the same backup for different operating systems which is very important for all big businesses that make use of computers. It is the only cure to safe important files when the network fails to work or crashes.

2. Internet backup software (also known as online backup software) gives you the opportunity to safe all your important data on a remote server. Only medium and large scale companies like banks make use of this kind of software.

What’s nice about this Internet software is that it normally takes advantage of non-peak times of Internet use while providing unique backup solutions. This backup software is very advanced and large amounts of data measured in gigabytes are usually stored on this software. It is very safe if you want to archive some data.

Internet backup service providers have enough space if you want to store your files and their guarantee to you is that they will restore all your files for you without any data loss. They usually make use of FTP software, which is file transfer protocol and in the case of a network crash, you first have to install the software form a CD and download all the files that you want to keep on the Internet. This can take a lot of your time.
The best thing is that they provide full backup for a hard disc, etc. but due to low Internet transfer speed the backup process of a hard disc can be frustrating so rather choose the most important files that you rather wish to back up.

These Internet backup software offer advantages like a safe and secure place for all your files but don’t stare yourself blind to the disadvantages which they have like high cost and slow restoration.

Either way, it’s up to you in your decision making.

If you are like many other families in the United States and around the globe, then you have had occasion to think about putting a home safety security system into your house to protect your family and property.

More and more people are looking to various video surveillance systems to help protect their premises from intrusion and to safeguard their loved ones. But, when trying to decide what kind of system is best, the myriad of choices can make the decision challenging.

cctv security surveillance
Not long ago, most homeowners never even thought about including video surveillance into their overall home security plans. But today things are different. The good news is the cost of all security equipment has dropped significantly in recent years. As it has become more available, it has become more popular and vital for security functions.

That means that in today’s hi-tech world, even an average, ordinary family is able to install a good home safety security system without breaking their budget. Barely more than decade ago, such a system would only be found in large businesses or government installations.

security surveillance systems
One of the most popular features of a home safety security system that integrates video surveillance is the option to have the video feeds sent to the internet. This means that busy parents who are concerned about how things are going back at home can log into a password protected website and view the live feeds from the various cameras in their network.

Not only is this helpful for moms and dads who put in long hours at the office, but this IP video surveillance arrangement is also perfect for the person who travels a great deal and is concerned about their home security while away. Some of the security surveillance systems also monitor things like temperature and moisture levels. For homeowners who have leaky basements or tropical aquariums that must maintain certain temperatures, this can provide a tremendous amount of peace of mind when they are away.

Many home security systems provide monitoring as well that keeps tabs on all the various indicators of home safety. This includes alarms that go off and notify the monitoring center in case of intrusion, fire, a “panic button” being pressed, temperature drops and changes in moisture levels. The monitoring center can then dispatch the appropriate help for the situation.

security surveillance cameras
However, it should be noted that the monitoring centers do not have access to the cctv video surveillance part of the home security system. This is only available to the homeowner and is accessible only through a secure network. A security company doesn’t eavesdrop on home activities.

Home safety security measures are increasingly important to families. In many ways the world is becoming smaller through the advancements in communication, travel and technology, but at the same time there seem to be more dangers around every corner. A quality home security surveillance system can provide a great deal of protection and also peace of mind to busy families.

Don’t underestimate your company’s need for high quality business computer security systems. Everyone would like to think they are immune to theft, but the truth is that at some point we all make mistakes that leave us vulnerable to the theft of both sensitive information and valuable hardware.

Consequently, more of us than ever are traveling with laptop computers. Even for those who are generally tied to an office, the computer has become almost an extension of the self. If they encounter any kind of a barrier when they scope you as a victim, the chances are pretty good that they will just move on.

computer security system
Laptop computers are by their very nature prone to theft. The same portability that allows us to take them around the world also makes laptops easy to steal. While it is ultimately up to your vigilance to protect your laptop during transit, once you reach your destination you will appreciate the convenience and safety of computer security hardware.

The most common PC security systems for laptops involve one or more heavy duty chains or cables. The cable is designed to be snaked around or through a table leg or any other fixed object and padlocked. The other choice is a lockdown system similar to those that are sold for desktop computers.

The lockdown system is the most secure but is not especially portable. However, a lockdown system is an excellent choice for students in college dorms or others who keep their laptops primarily in one location.

The lockdown style computer security systems are perfect for desktop computers. In this type of system, the computer is encased in a heavy metal (often steel) construction that is then mounted to the computer desk.

home computer security
Computer security hardware is available for peripherals as well. While no system can completely guarantee that your computer will not be stolen, thieves tend to go after things that are easy to steal. A lockdown computer security system will make your computer much less attractive to a would-be thief.

Computer security systems are not just limited to hardware options. In addition to protecting the hardware, it is important that you protect your data as well. Data computer security is important as well.

Standard programs such as antivirus software are essential, but may not be enough. Depending on the sensitivity of data contained on your system and your reliance on the internet, you may need to consider a more complete network security system. More advanced data computer security system solutions are available and may be appropriate, particularly if you manage a large network.

Make sure that you are following basic behavioral solutions to the problem of data theft. Assign separate profiles to everyone who uses your computer and give administrator privileges only to those who require them.

pc security network
Make a habit of logging off whenever you leave your computer and encourage others to do so as well. Do not leave password hints lying around near the computer. Use encryption settings and passwords on wireless networks as well. Simply changing a few basic behaviors can dramatically lower your risk of identity or data theft.

Unfortunately, the computer science minds that are developing invasive software are always working to stay one step ahead of the latest system computer security systems. For this reason, you can never be completely sure that you won’t be a victim of piracy. You should always have back up files of any information that is essential to your company’s survival.

For most people, a computer is essential in their day-to-day lives, whether for business or personal reasons (or both). That being the case, the need for effective security software to counter spyware, spam, and other malicious programs is imperative. This urgency for computer protection also includes the need for a firewall and the knowledge of how itactually works.

A firewall is a computer program built for security. A good one will help prevent the loss of information on your computer from a computer virus, and better yet, to prevent the unauthorized distribution of your personal information and data to other computers for thieves who are anxious to use that information in a harmful way.

The use of a firewall program is not just recommended; today it is an essential. The benefits of a firewall far outweigh the occasional inaccessible web site that it deems dangerous. Its use is similar to a security guard for your important information. The software evaluates probes to and from your computer to determine whether they are safe. They don’t get in or out without the approval of the “guard.”

A firewall is extremely helpful because it only permits certain packets of information from infiltrating your computer. Those packets must meet certain criteria according to settings you have in place. If they don’t, the information is then blocked and you are notified with a prompt on your computer asking for your authorization.

A firewall is very detailed in the way it works. It identifies the source of the packet of information and where it is going, while at the same time recording it for the future so that by “memory” it will allow or disallow the information in a quicker fashion the following time. This helps with faster connection to other computers and web sites because they are already recognized and allowed through the Internet passage.

Firewalls are built-in “guards” that help to keep your computer safe and running well – and you don’t even need to feed them! If you do not have a firewall you are simply asking – no, begging – for dangerous information to come into your computer that can easily wipe out your data, programs, and other pertinent files, both business and personal.

If you do not have one, purchase and install a firewall on your computer as quickly as you can to save yourself many future problems. Some effective versions are even available without cost.

Options to protect your computer are plentiful. Some of the best protection for your precious data is available at a very low cost – frequently free. Avail yourself of these opportunities and spare yourself heartache later.

If you are using the Internet at all, you probably already know your computer is susceptible to threats, viruses, spyware and other malware developed by thieves looking to steal or damage your personal information. They could be snooping for your credit card numbers, banking information, or any other pertinent data that might help them “impersonate” you.

They may use a tactic of gaining access to your email address book with spam to attack other computer users whose email addresses you store on your PC. It is for reasons such as these that you need to ensure your computer is protected at all times.

There are many ways you can protect your computer, starting with the critical anti-virus program. This type of program when running on your PC is always on the lookout for viruses that attempt to enter through your email, computer programs, or Internet downloads and then alerts you to their presence and deletes them. The anti-virus program is your first wall of defense while on the Internet.

Along with your anti-virus program, you absolutely must have a firewall program on your computer. Most newer computer operating systems come equipped with a built-in firewall; but if you do not have one, you should purchase and install one as soon as possible.

A firewall guards your computer by determining the type of pre-configured information allowed onto your computer. It keeps out any unwanted or dangerous traffic and alerts you when something damaging is attempting to infiltrate your computer.

You can also help to maintain your computer’s security by taking appropriate email precautions. This includes not opening any unsolicited email, especially those with attachments. Never – under any circumstances – open an attachment if you are not completely sure you know the sender and what is being delivered.

Despite precautions, if you do get a virus, it is critical that you already have a backup stored for all your data. You can set up a backup on your computer to either go to an external hard drive or a piece of removable media. This helps ensure you never lose any of your important data.

You also need to be careful while surfing on the Internet itself. Never download a program that is not certified. If a notification box pops up on your screen indicating the program is not known or valid, you should immediately cancel the download to make sure your computer is not infected.

Additionally, use a strong password for any web site that you access via a login. The password should be a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols, and the longer you make your password – though it should be easy for you to remember – the more secure your data online.

Computer security is a serious subject and one for which you should be aware. By putting these basic precautions in place, you will have a much easier time of protecting your computer from dangerous threats that lurk at every cyber corner.

Today, getting free background checks is very common but many people don’t know how to actually do this type of check. To do free background checks, just type the person’s name in the browser of either Google or Yahoo and press enter. You will get a lot of entries. Look through them all in hopes of detecting what you are looking for. If the name is more common or if you were delivered results of your search for free background checks were too many, then add quotation marks around the name (“John Doe”). That will limit the amount of searches and the search engines will be more specific. But there are many other types of background checks.

A comprehensive background check can help in any condition. Recently, someone paid for a check to be done on nannies who the family was interviewing. They had three beautiful young children who they were very concerned about, and rightfully so. Because they have this comprehensive background check at their disposals they were able to pick the nanny with a clean and safe record of working with young children. And to their dismay, they discovered that a couple of those who were possible hires for them were not entirely who they said they were. This of course raised a red flag and they eliminated them from their prospective hire list.

Many investigators themselves use this report as a process of elimination. They will search in many diverse areas about an individual or company, therefore eliminating all possibilities of problems. Many companies and individuals do that now also much more often. The comprehensive background check has allowed so many to feel very good about hiring people, dating individuals and keeping their families safe.

There are so many grounds that a person should do a comprehensive background check on someone else; applicants, whether they are applying for a job or to rent an apartment, lie when writing out an application over 50% of the time. With this statistic so high, no one should take the chance of hiring an employee or renting an apartment without knowing precisely how the person rates regarding their credit.

Now, of course, there are people who have a problem with their credit, that are good and honest people. Those situations will show up though if you go back and check the credit from years before. If it’s within the last year or so that their credit has fallen, it may be because of severe illness in the family or because of a bad business situation. That is a totally different situation. And a comprehensive background check can give you all that important information.

Lastly, there are FBI background checks. Many Federal agencies as well as State and Local jurisdictions want FBI background checks on certain individuals. And unfortunately, even if it seems like your reason for this specific check is more important, they will take priority over your FBI name check if you are trying to get this done on a specific individual.

Finding FBI background checks is not always easy and not always quick. There has to be ample reason and they have to agree that it’s what needs to be done. Even then, it could take years.

The first PC’s were used for two primary purposes. For those who grew up using typewriters, the word processing ability of the PC was revolutionary. For others, the PC was a great place to play video games.

From those two applications, we have seen the entire world revolutionized by the way that the PC is used on a daily basis by millions of people. No office could function in the modern world without one as the financial records of major businesses are now stored on virtual files instead of paper.

Now personal computers are used for a wide variety of work related tasks and most information is stored directly on the hard drive. A PC crash could mean the loss of significant quantities of critical data. PC security is now more important than ever before simply because the value of the information that is at stake is now greater than ever before.

pc security
Internet security is a very important subset of overall pc security. When shopping or conducting business online, be sure to look for Secured Socket Layer (SSL) certification. This encryption software has become the standard for protecting credit card numbers and other data from prying eyes, including those of hackers.

Wifi, or wireless internet, has exploded in popularity recently. More than ever before, travelers are taking laptop computers on the road and connecting to the internet through Wifi hotspots. Sometimes charging a low fee, or in some places free, these Wifi hotspots allow us to communicate via computer from points around the world.

Many Wifi spots use WEP encryption technology to provide wireless computer security, but just as many do not. If you connect through a non-encrypted Wifi hotspot, it is possible that data you transmit could be seen by others in the area. Use discretion when transmitting sensitive data.

computer security hardware
When thinking about PC security, hardware security is just as important as data computer security. Many computer users are careful to use computer security hardware and set their privacy settings to a high level, but never think about protecting the computer itself. Laptop computers are particularly vulnerable due to their portability, but desktop systems are not immune.

When traveling with your laptop, think about ways to keep the computer safe. A lockable case will deter thieves, but in many cases a thief will simply take the entire case to be opened at his or her leisure.

Instead, lock the laptop in an in-room safe whenever possible, and be especially vigilant about its protection in large common areas such as airports. GPS tracking is available for laptops and may be worth the expense if your computer is valuable or contains sensitive data.

When thinking about PC security, hardware security is just as important as data computer security. Many computer users are careful to use PC security software and set their privacy settings to a high level, but never think about protecting the computer itself.

Laptop computers are particularly vulnerable due to their portability, but desktop systems are not immune.

data computer security
Back up your data regularly and store the backups away from the computer. You will want to be able to re-create your files if the computer is stolen. If you have especially sensitive data, create more than one backup to be stored in separate locations.

A variety of PC security techniques should be employed in tandem. This will greatly increase your odds of keeping your data safe. Using your operating system’s built-in system computer security features, third party PC security software and physical means of protecting your computer mean that your chances of data protection are quite high.

Be sure to regularly update both your operating system and your third party protective software as well.

But in one respect the network testing software tool of today is not much different from those in use a decade ago. Without fear of contradiction, I believe I can safely say that problems occurring at the lower open systems interconnection (OSI) layers have always been and will probably always be the plague of any software testing tool. This class of problem includes broken or poorly connected wire, “fogged” fiber-optic cable, electro-magnetic and radio frequency interference, misconfigured equipment, improperly conditioned lines, network congestion, lost data blocks, and protocols that silently discard frames and packets that cannot be handled.

It is true that the market has established the need for interoperable software testing tool. And international standards organizations have developed detailed, mutually agreed upon specifications for network operation that are more or less universally acknowledged.

And the myriad of networking equipment manufacturers (even IBM) have delivered products that have broken down the proprietary technology boundaries of the past. A market that was once dominated by individual manufacturers is now led by industry-wide forums containing manufacturers, users, and government agencies that gather to define and establish universally acceptable approaches to networking opportunities.

This is all true and it is all good, and yet the connection is still sometimes noisy, the wire still breaks, someone upgrades the software, someone moves a node, someone hangs a picture or digs a ditch and the trunk, coax, twisted pair, and so on is bisected.

When that happens, a real live person must get into an elevator, truck, airplane, or space shuttle and travel somewhere to make things work again. When that person leaves for the service call, some sort of test equipment had better go along, or the problem won’t get fixed properly, fixing the problem will cause other problems, the problem will take too long to fix, or the problem won’t get fixed at all.

All of these scenarios lead to the need for subsequent service calls or supplemented service calls, extended down time, loss of network-generated revenue, and unhappy network users. With the cost of commercial downtime skyrocketing and the cost of service calls easily exceeding $ 100 per hour, high-quality, easy to use, portable, and rugged wireless network analyzer equipment is clearly needed and can be easily justified.

This all leads logically to the conclusion that until truly self-healing networks are developed that can repair their own communications channels, instead of simply switching to a backup channel, there will be a continuing need for test equipment that can quickly and easily diagnose complex and simple problems.

Almost everybody owns a computer. Take a peek into anyone’s computer, and you will find all sorts of data stored there—emails received and sent, chat histories, communication logs, bills, bank account information, even details about credit cards, and much more. And your computer follows the same trend of setting itself up as a storehouse of information!

But what you are rapidly discovering now is that people with bad intentions are finding it easier and easier to steal your personal information as well as misuse your financial data! It is like an intruder entering your personal territory, when he/she has no right to be there! While these intruders do it just for fun, others have far more evil designs, as you will see:

(1) With the Internet being accessible to one and all, the hacker has a chance to “prey” upon your computer via any other computer without your even being aware of it! You would require great tactical skills to outsmart him/her! Often, by the time you discover an intruder tampering with your system, it is too late!

(2) A favorite ruse is to act as the “intruded computer” and keep a watch on your system. As a victim yourself, naturally you will not suspect another victim! The hacker therefore has a wonderful opportunity to totally re-format your hard disc without your knowledge. So there goes your credit card info, information about the money you have in your bank accounts, and God knows what else! Why, these clever hackers even manage to get hold of user names and passwords without any difficulty!

(3) And if you are still confused about how the hacker gets into your “secure and personal” system, well my friend, he has wonderful tools to aid him! They are capable of penetrating where they wish. And mind you, some of them never enter via the front door—it is always a back door entry! These are known as “infections” or “viruses”. A few common ones are Subseven, Netbus and MoSucker.

(4) Trojan horses are bold intruders who don’t think twice in making an entrance via the front door or front window! They are more dangerous than viruses. In fact, they let in more viruses into your already damaged computer! These “clever” horses are capable of disfiguring your system configuration altogether, can take screen shots of your current screen on the computer, capturing all the keystrokes and finally bringing the whole system crashing down so that it no longer works. If you have a printer, they even manage to print matter via your printer. Using a Trojan horse is child’s play for any hacker!

Then, how do you protect yourself from these hackers?

You have to opt for Computer Network Security, if you want to keep your system safe. An active defense system is like having two personal guards looking after your personal property. The defense network sends out constant alerts about impending threats, gives information about whether the intruder has made a successful entry or has been blocked, and conducts repair jobs immediately if necessary.

Ensure that the patches provided by your computer vendors are downloaded and installed. They must be checked for updates at least once or twice a week.

An infected computer can be compared to an “ill” person. When you are sick, what do you do? Consume the required course of antibiotics. Well, the antibiotic for your “infected” or “ill” computer is anti-virus software. This type of software keeps you informed about the “germs” and gives guidance on how best to deal with them. Well-developed software can even rid your computer of these viruses completely. The best known and most popular ones today are—Norton Anti-virus and MacAfee security center.

Thus, it is a constant battle between computer vendors and hackers! As fast as a computer vendor discovers a loop hole and patches it up, so fast does the intruder discover another way of getting over this obstacle! It is not a once-in-a-while occurrence; the process goes on day in and day out. Both sides are therefore kept busy all the time!

In today’s world a computer is pretty much a necessity. Unfortunately with this popularity has come an increasing risk from hackers and other people of malicious intent, who release a virus, trojans or worms that can fatally harm your computer’s hard drive.

Computer virus programmers will usually disguise their wares as the type of common file that you’re used to using everyday e.g. an mp3 music file, or they’ll send an executable program file as an email attachment that gets activated as soon as you open the email.

1. Don’t open emails if you don’t recognize and trust the sender.

2. Make sure that you have up-to-date versions of the two must-have pieces of software on your computer and that they are activated at all times.

3. Be sure to use a a good Firewall program.

4. Invest in an Antivirus program that checks for updates automatically every time you access the Internet.

The Internet is amazing technology. We can virtually go anywhere and see anything without leaving the comfort of your home. However with that awesome functionality comes the ability for people who are not so kind to inflict damaging viruses onto your computer either just for fun or to extract information from you that they can use to their own benefit. With so many computers at risk through Internet security gaps, you need to understand the importance of completing diligent computer security checks on your computer.

There are literally thousands of viruses, Trojans, worms, and spyware created each year with the sole purpose of doing harm to as many computers as possible. Billions of business dollars are lost annually because of security breaches on computers. You don’t want to be part of this statistic! That is why you should regularly check the Internet protection software of your own computer to minimize the risk of being one of those people.

The first relatively simple step you can take is keep your Windows or other operating system up-to-date. That means clicking the button that allows your computer to download routine updates as they are offered. If you don’t know for sure if you have the most recent version, you can simply go to www (dot) windowsupdate (dot) com to download all the current Windows updates that may benefit you.

Along with updating the operating system, you also want to keep your anti-virus software current as well. This means you must open your anti-virus software program and click the update button or schedule it to run automatically while your computer is on. These updates ought to be done on a weekly, if not daily.

Email is a common means of receiving a virus attack. While dealing with email, make sure you use an email program that automatically scans your individual messages for viruses and protects you from email spam; otherwise manually run your messages through a malware scanner before opening them. If the email program notifies you that a message could be dangerous, then no matter who it is from you should not open it. Be safe and simply delete it.

Ever-present anti-spyware is another significant threat that can land on your computer through downloads. Such programs may sound innocent enough with cute names, but if you download the wrong type of file or program you could be opening your computer to a threat. Therefore configure your settings on your browser to medium-high security so that any threatening downloads first automatically prompt you prior to downloading it, allowing you the option to reject it.

The acronym “PC” is short for “personal computer.” That means it is up to you personally to provide the proper care for your computer and its security. With regular security checks, you provide your computer with a safety net, especially with all the criminal minds that lurk around the Internet.

Computer network intruders are finding new vulnerabilities or loop holes every day, that they use to penetrate your network. Developers or computer vendors often provide patches that cover up previous loop holes. A “zero-day” attack is an attack that targets a vulnerability for which there is no solution easily available. Once the vendor releases a patch, the zero-day exposure has ended. A recent example of a critical zero-day vulnerability was the Windows Animated Cursor Remote Execution Vulnerability that was patched by MS07-01719 (Microsoft Security Bulletin 925902). This was considered a critical hole because it could allow remote code of the attackers’ choosing to be executed. A security research company called Determina notified Microsoft of the problem on December 20, 2006. The vulnerability was publicly announced on March 28 2007.21 On April 2nd, Determina released a video demonstration of Metasploit using exploit code against Vista. Microsoft released the patch on April 3, 2007 ending at least six days of zero-day exposure. Exploit code that targeted this vulnerability was active in the wild for at least several days, if not several weeks before the patch was released.

Even after a patch is released, many organizations take several days to get around to updating systems with the patch Most of the time it is your job to download and install these patches. It is a good idea to check for updates at least once a day or use an enterprise tool to manage updates on your network.

The Internet is a powerful tool that provides everyone online a way to be connected to each other, gather a lot of information and enjoy convenient services like online shopping and banking. However, many of us Internet users are at constant risk of adware and spyware downloads that make us extremely vulnerable to malicious acts.

Covert Online Spies
We often unknowingly fall prey to adware and spyware downloads as we innocently use the Internet. These adware and spyware downloads can come bundled with some freeware programs we use and sometimes, simply browsing a site puts us at risk. The business of being infected with unwanted adware and spyware downloads can be very serious. Some adware and spyware or malware proliferate the Web to infect our computer systems which gives us no control over unsolicited pop ups as part of targeted market efforts.

On extreme criminal cases however, spyware called malware, is used to take note of keystrokes, scan our computer’s hard drive and steal important passwords and financial information. The information gathered covertly is used for identity theft, which can cause us major headache and at least thousands of dollars to clear our names.

These adware and spyware are unknowingly infect our computers and most of the time, we don’t even know that they there. However, you can start becoming suspicious of adware and spyware downloaded into your system when you begin to have uncontrolled pop-ups from unsolicited sources. Sometimes, even without the telltale pop up ads you may notice a suspicious slow down in your computer’s processing without any apparent reason. Your system slows down because these adware and spyware parasitically use up your system’s resources to be able to perform their functions.

The only way you can be sure if your computer system is infected with adware and spyware downloads is by installing an anti spyware program that will detect and flush out the unwanted programs. The proper anti spyware can also prevent future adware and spyware downloads. You need to choose an anti spyware program that does both.

Be wary of downloading anti spyware on the Net because some spyware are disguised and marketed as a free anti spyware.

One more thing you can do to protect yourself from unwittingly downloading adware and spyware programs is to read the fine print. When installing a new program into your computer, you are asked to tick off an option of whether you agree or disagree with the programs end user license agreement (EULA). Do yourself a favor and read what is written in the agreement before agreeing to proceed in the installation. Many shareware and freeware programs come bundled with spyware and adware programs and in some cases you can learn about them by reading the agreement carefully.
If your computer is like mine, after about a month it starts to run really bad. As you install and uninstall software, the problem just gets worse. There is some great information on optimizing windows by cleaning up the registry. Once I cleaned the windows registry, my PC is like I just got it.

I was about to throw my computer out the window. Now, I have been using this old computer for months and still running like it was brand new.

Cleaning the registry is probably one of the biggest things you can do to speed up your computer. Optimizing your windows registry regularly is like having a car mechanic tune up your car every tank of gas!

Don’t wait until it is too late. Virus protection software is not able to find issues with the windows registry.

You have the same problem I do? Check out windows xp registry files!

Scamming others is a crime some people commit by taking advantage of gullible people. They look for people who they can take advantage of and prey on them. People refer to these people as scammers, although a more descriptive word may be scummers.

The word Scam is slang for fraud or swindle, both words being synonymous with cheating. A Scam, sometimes called a Confidence Game, is certainly not a game for the victim. A Scam involves money or something of value. Scammers build the confidence of their victims with convincing lies and gain the trust of their victims. Once Scammers receive what they want, usually money, they disappear. On the Internet, their website disappears, but before they do, you could download Fierfox in order to know if they aren’t phising scams.

Scams are increasing on the Internet and many are serious crimes under investigation by the FBI. Some of the Scams today are those involving investments in real estate, gold, antiques and other items. Emails and Pop-up Ads embedded in webpages offer once in lifetime deals, which require immediate purchase. People make payment and the website disappears or the email address is no good. Avoid clicking or moving your mouse pointer across these ads.

Another Scam involves Internet Auctions, which lead us to believe the items we see are legitimate and valuable. We bid and win the bidding, pay our money and never receive the item. When we attempt to find the auction on the web later, the website is gone because it was a Scam. Those who want to bid on auctions need to use only reputable companies they know.

Travel and Vacation sites on the Internet are not always legitimate sites. They offer fabulous deals. Some people believe what they read and make reservations. Go to the local City Council website of vacation spot for valuable information about reputable travel agencies and other businesses before paying an agency you know nothing about. Fraudulent travel and vacation agencies disappear from the Internet once you make payment.

The Internet is full of Work at Home Scams be wary of these. Most are very easy to identify as Scams. The best way to avoid Internet Scams is ignore the Ads unless you asked for the information. Be especially careful about clicking on the ads on the right hand column of webpages. Scams hide there!

The Fierfox could help you avoid many phishing scams, in which some website looks exactly like the real one you are trying to access. The Mozila Browser, which you can download free of charge from Mozila will alert you that the one you are seeing is in reality not the real one, saving you a lot of problems.

The way to avoid Scams is to ignore Ads and deal with people and companies you know. Use eBay for auctions, make purchases on secure sites, look, for “s” in front of the http of website. Do not do business with a site having a free Email service. Legitimate businesses do not use free email addresses and do not hide their identity. If there is no name, address and telephone number, avoid doing business with them.

Security Alarm Monitoring Software

Have you secured your home against the bad element? No, I’m not talking about the wind, rain and hail. I am referring to the infinite criminals of the world. Man, it seems like they’re all over the place at any given time. Or is the media simply harping on all the bad stuff? Either way, the fact still remains that there are dangerous people among us, and it definitely pays to keep your home safe and secure at all times. Fortunately there are a number of ways to do this now days. Anything from super alarm systems, to massive dead bolts, to Plexiglas windows and surveillance cameras are available to anyone. What measures have you taken thus far? Maybe it’s time to take advantage of a quality security system and some handy alarm monitoring software. Doesn’t that sound sweet?

What do you know about alarm monitoring software and security systems? Well, let me give you a quick rundown. These days, due to the rise in crime, alarm systems and security measures for the average home are becoming more prominent. This is to be expected. I mean come on, we can all see on the nightly news what’s going on. It pays to be ready for everything and anything. This is why many of us are investing in fine security systems, along with alarm monitoring software. It’s pretty sweet how you can monitor things from your laptop computer. Maybe you’re at the office and want to check on the status of your homestead; this is no problem with alarm monitoring software. You may not have known it, but big security companies such as ADT use this stuff all the time. How else would they keep track of what’s going on at each and every home? I prefer a security system with alarm monitoring software so that I can keep track of everything from my Mac notebook. It’s really ideal and virtually problem free.

Are you anxious to install a quality security system in your home? This is a wise plan to say the least. Keep that home secure even when you’re not in it. After all, you definitely don’t want some thug creeping inside when you’re not around. That could end horribly for you and your family. Invest in a high-tech system with alarm monitoring software today. Protect the ones you care about.
